As the founder and CEO of Defined.ai, the largest marketplace for training data for AI, Daniela Braga has been leading one of the fastest-growing startups in the AI space for 8 years. With a hybrid background as a linguist and an engineer, and more than 20 years of experience in AI, she has a unique perspective and expertise in multiple fields, such as Generative AI, Responsible AI, Foundation Models, Speech Technologies, Natural Language Processing, Large Language Models, Automatic Speech Recognition, and Machine Learning. Daniela has taught at several universities in Europe and at the University of Washington. She is the author of more than 100 scientific papers and holds several patents.

Daniela’s mission is to build fair, accessible, inclusive, and ethical AI for the future, with the help of a community of AI professionals who share this vision. As a world citizen, born and raised in Portugal and having lived in Spain, China, and the US, Daniela possesses a global mindset and a curiosity for different cultures and perspectives.

Daniela has received several awards, including the E&Y Entrepreneur of the Year Pacific Northwest 2020 Award, ranked #27 on the Deloitte Fast 500 2020 list (#1 in PNW), #27 on the Inc.5000 list in 2020, and was named one of Goldman Sachs’ Most Intriguing 100 Entrepreneurs in 2021, among many others. She is a member of YPO and CTA, and is recognized in the World Economic Forum’s Expert Network as a Tech Pioneer and AI Expert at WEF Davos 2022.

Dr. Braga served on the National Artificial Intelligence Research Resource (NAIRR) Task Force, a 12-person body that advises the US President on the AI strategy of the United States. Additionally, she acts as an advisor to the President of Portugal.
