Matthew Kaness


Matthew Kaness is the CEO of GoodwillFinds, the new social enterprise and ecommerce marketplace that extends Goodwill’s mission of creating social impact through the power and dignity of work. Kaness is a seasoned retail veteran with more than twenty years of experience leading some of the most forward-thinking and well-known brands in the Direct-to-Consumer, Digital Commerce, and Retail-Tech Industries, including Walmart eCommerce, URBN (Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, Free People + Nuuly), ModCloth and Afterpay.

Over his career, Kaness has spearheaded innovations that have catapulted brands to the next level, including overseeing the transformation of ModCloth from a pure-play fashion e-tailer to a digitally-native omni channel brand, resulting in acquisition by Walmart, as well as leading the development of the eCommerce channel at Urban Outfitters, and advising Afterpay through its successful entry into the U.S. market.

In his new role at GoodwillFinds, Matthew is shepherding the brand and the mission of Goodwill through its most pivotal inflection – scaling the fully digital resale platform and leveraging his retail prowess to drive continued growth to increase revenues, and ultimately, deepen the reach of Goodwill’s mission.
