David Welch

David joined The Boston Consulting Group in 2004. He is currently a Senior Partner in the Washington, D.C. office, and he is a core member of BCG's Retail, Organization, and Operations practices. David is the global lead on People & Organization topics for BCG's retail practice. In this capacity, David has deep experience managing organizational and operational change in large-scale retail environments. David's work across a range of retail sectors, including Grocery, Home Improvement, Specialty, and Mass. 

Since joining BCG in 2004, David has led culture and change initiatives to drive operational efficiency, associate engagement, customer experience, and top-line growth in retail environments in grocery, specialty, home improvement, value, and mass market retailers. He has led multiple operational improvement efforts in large scale (1,000+ store) US retailers, with deep expertise in leading change management issues for stores and field management teams. He has also managed multiple retail post-merger and organizational integrations, planning, executing and tracking synergies and building, launching, and stabilizing high-performing organizations.

Prior to joining BCG, David worked as a Manager in the Financial Advisory Services division of PricewaterhouseCoopers. He earned his MBA, with distinction from The Kellogg School of Management.
