VP, US Retail Effectiveness
Liz Buchanan leads the newly formed Nielsen Retail Effectiveness team, focused on driving joint value for Nielsen’s retail and consumer packaged goods (CPG) manufacturer customers. Retail Effectiveness combines the power of the open Nielsen Connect platform, rich retail, customer and media data assets, strong customer partnerships and proven analytic solutions to help both retail and manufacturer clients efficiently plan, decide and activate in real time. As the retail landscape grows increasingly complex, Liz and her team aim to simplify the interactions across the trading desk by enabling buyers and vendors to speak in a common analytical language and use the same integrated set of tools. Liz also leads the U.S. Spectra and TDLinx businesses for Nielsen.
Prior to assuming her current position, Liz led Nielsen’s Sales Engineering team focused on bringing Nielsen’s new Connect platform to manufacturer organizations. In this role, she worked closely with her clients’ technology organizations to define joint technology roadmaps--focusing on modern, cloud architecture, platform interoperability, business intelligence, data science and security. She also led the first successful deployment of Nielsen Connect on a client’s architecture.
During her 12-plus years at Nielsen, Liz has held various roles in customer success, commercial and technology deployment. She has worked extensively across the U.S. and Global markets, supporting Global Brands, Global Retail, Financial Services and Agencies.
Liz is a proud champion of the Women in Nielsen (WIN) Employee Resource Group (ERG), and is passionate about women’s issues. She is active in both local and national advocacy groups focusing on diversity, inclusion and equity in the workplace and beyond. Liz holds positions with her local community organization in Chicago, as well as with the Steppenwolf Theatre Company supporting arts education.
