Patrick Bousquet-Chavanne, one of the luxury and retail world’s most innovative executives, joined Dubai’s Emaar Malls as Chief Executive Officer in August 2018.

Emaar Malls [EMAARMLS: DFM] develop and operate premium shopping malls and retail assets in the Middle East and Turkey. The flagship development of Emaar Malls is The Dubai Mall, the world’s largest shopping and entertainment destination, and the world’s most-visited shopping and leisure destination.

Mr. Bousquet-Chavanne has more than 25 years of experience in the international branded consumer goods and luxury retail industries in London, Paris, and New York. where he led multi-billion dollar businesses in senior leadership roles at The Estee Lauder Companies Inc, L.V.M.H. and Marks & Spencer PLC. He brings a new and transformative global perspective to the Middle East retail market at a time of rapid digital transformation. He is a strong advocate of advanced analytics and insight to improve customer experience and has an exceptional track record in integrating physical and digital channels.

Mr. Bousquet-Chavanne was until May 2018 Chief Marketing and Digital Officer for iconic British retailer Marks & Spencer, where he led the department store’s digital transformation across M&S’s £10bil business in fashion, home, beauty, specialty food, energy and banking, catapulting marksandspencer.com to one of the top three clothing and footwear online destinations in the UK. At M&S, he spearheaded a period of accelerated brand modernization through innovative awardwinning campaigns (Mrs. Claus, Paddington, and Spend It Well) and the launch of Sparks TM, one of the most personalized CRM programs in retail.

Prior to joining M&S, he was a Group President of the Estée Lauder Companies Inc., where he oversaw the global affairs of some of the company’s largest brands including Estee Lauder, MAC and the Designer Fragrances division. Earlier at Estee Lauder, Mr. Bousquet-Chavanne was President of Estee Lauder International Inc., directing the expansion of all Estée Lauder company portfolio brands across 130 countries, as well as initiating the successful global expansion of the Group’s Travel Retail business. He stepped down from Estée Lauder in 2008 to pursue new opportunities in the private equity field.

Mr. Bousquet-Chavanne holds MBAs from the United States’ Purdue University Krannert School of Management and KEDGE business school in Marseilles, France, and received an Advanced Management degree from Stanford Executive Program in Strategy and Organization. He has been an Independent Director of Brown-Forman [NYSE: BF-B], one of the largest American spirits companies since 2005 and has served as a Director of HSNi [NASDAQ: HSNI], an interactive multi-channel retailer in the USA. He is an Honorary Professor in Marketing at the British School of Fashion and was a member of the Retail Leadership Group for The Prince’s Trust, a charity in the United Kingdom founded by Charles, Prince of Wales, to help vulnerable young people get their lives on track.
