Ram Rampalli leads the content acquisition program at Walmart and is part of the team that is building the next generation product catalog. Ram’s current area of focus is content driven commerce and the role & impact of content for brands within the omni-channel retail ecosystem. Ram previously lead the engineering and product team @WalmartLabs that built a machine learning based product classification engine. The product classification engine is one of the early adopter of the industry standard Simple Product Listing that Ram helped co-found in collaboration with GS1 and eBay. Previously Ram lead product initiatives in the crowdsourcing and automotive parts & accessories for eBay. Ram joined eBay after 12 years of software engineering and management experience. Ram has filed/granted 15 patents in product classification, cataloging and crowdsourcing. He holds graduate degrees in Engineering Management, Software Systems and Mathematics and undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering from Santa Clara University and Birla Institute of Technology & Science, Pilani, India.
